How can I make over a brass chandelier?

How can I makeover this chandelier in keeping with my rustic/refined taste? It will be over the table in my log home, but I do not wasn’t a hunting theme/cabin look. My rug under the table is bordered in black and has a floral design with tan, cream, light rust and robin egg’s blue. The table is cherry finished.

    I forgot the pic

  • Hi, Julie!

The chandelier can be spray painted in any color you choose... Start with a primer (I like to use Rusty Metal Primer from RustOleum) and finish with a couple coats of spray paint (I like Metallic Charcoal and Bright Copper spray paint.). If the glass is removable, new globes can be purchased at home improvement stores. I hope this helps!

I think spray paint will be your best friend here. You can use white for a really updated look, or go with silver or even copper. The metallics look really great. Good luck!

If you want a rustic look, chalk paint works amazing! My mother in law painted over her black one with some cream chalk paint and it looks rustic and a bit distressed after just one coat since the black peeps through in some areas.

You can also apply a few coats to completely cover then use a guilding wax for a rustic look.

Use spray paint in a rust or dark brown finish.
