Vinegar and window shop towels or newspaper and make sure your hands are clean or you're wearing clean gloves because when you inevitably reposition the paper towels in your hands you don't want to wipe oils that could have come from your hands onto the window

Try vinegar and water and use a squeegee. Good luck !

  • Hi, Cece!

My dad, an auto mechanic and hobbyist, swears by newspaper and Windex. He says there is something about the ink on the paper that helps remove the streaks! I hope this helps!

rubbing alcohol and clean wash cloth no fabric softener on it pour straight rubbing alcohol on cloth and wipe the windows do outside one direction(sideways) and inside the other direction(up & down)this way you can tell which side needs a repeat. paper towels, newsprint(just not same ink as old paper)cloth with fabric softener all streak and smear from chemicals on them paper towels are made with chemicals to oincrease absorbancy and it kills lots of trees to make them along with industria;l wate in processing. rubbing alcohol dries ASAP no streaks smears ingredient in windex just not all other chemicals & as you stated doesn't work that well anyway, rubbing alcohol cheaper too.(don't get on other parts of car-upholstery,dash etc. it will leave spots)

  • Do not wash in sunlight. Windshield should be in the shade and cool in order to achieve optimum results. Use a squeegee if you are uncomfortable with newspaper or a microfiber cloth.

Bright sunlight will cause drying before getting the window clean, leaving streaks. Clean your window in the shade and use windshield washer fluid.
