Eliminate the source of moisture and dampness.

Place Damp Rid products throughout the space. I prefer the ones that are designed to hang in a closet over the buckets.

Clean everything with either white vinegar or Odo-Ban.

Newspaper, activated charcoal, and baking soda are also good at eliminating odor. However, Odo-Ban is my go to because I love the clean scent and it also disinfects.

It depends on where the musty smell is coming from. If it's in carpeting or on furniture then you can shake some baking soda onto the area and let it set for up to a day before vacuuming off.

    Where is the musty smell?

If you live where there is high humidity, the musty smell is most likely originating from materials in the home that have absorbed moisture.

I would recommend purchasing a dehumidifier. Having it run will help to remove the moisture and dampness, as Kathy said, and will also help to prevent further absorption.

I agree with getting a dehumidifier b/c it is a humid environment that is allowing mold and mildew to grow.
