Vacuum as much loose dust, debris, and soot as possible to make it easier.

    Use one of these solutions:

Make a paste of baking soda & dish soap then scrub with a brush. Let sit 5 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Spray with white vinegar & water - 50/50 mixture.

1/2 cup dish soap + 4 cups water in a spray bottle. Spray & scrub, then rinse.

2 Tbsp Borax + 4 cups hot water + 1 Tbsp dish soap. Spray, scrub, then rinse clean.

On the inside, hire a chimney sweep and they’ll inspect your flu from top to bottom. I paid $200, but I wanted a certified inspection report.

If it has a lot of soot build up, you can buy Paint and Peel which you can just peel it all off..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jFlqynHYcU&t=50s
