How can I treat a tree stump for use indoors?
i recently had a tree cut down that has beautiful rings. Would like to use indoors and outside as seating. Would polyurethane work the best?

Need to let it dry first. Takes at least one full year to dry after cutting. Don't apply anything until then. If using out side, use Marine Spar Varnish. Several coats.
Agree with Kelli - 2 or 3 coats of varnish should probably be enough - let it dry at lest 24h between coats.
My Dad used to treat them with an insecticide after getting termites in a carving project. He would put in a contractor bag, spray inside, seal up and leave for 2 weeks. If your not going to keep the bark on, take it off before spraying.
