Is there an easy way to take off wallpaper, or should I paint over it?

Fabic softener & water. Look up on Google for wall paper remover. It works.

I use a 50/50 mix of vinegar and hot water in a spray bottle. Spray the wallpaper and let it sit for a while. Check every so often if it peels off with a putty knife. Painting over it may loosen it, bubble, or peel from moisture in the paint. Also would be a pain to remove in the future and seams can show.

I do wall paper removal as a sideline..... I use fabric softner in hot water. Score the paper first, tape off the floor from the baseboards down with plastic tarps. I use a car sponge to wet 5' sections, let sit 20 mins, go back and wet again if it doesn't come off easily.

I sure wouldn't paint over it..... I charge triple for the mess it makes if you do paint it.

Yes you can paint over your wallpaper if it is adhered well to the wall.

Hi Barb, hope this helps you out. Use a scoring tool to create holes in the wallpaper. Use a spray bottle to soak the paper. Spray water into the slits so it can work its way behind the covering. Wait about 10 minutes and then scrape off the paper with a putty knife.
