Not sure where you live but I take my jeans to a dry cleaners here in our town. They have someone who does alterations and only charges between $8 and $10 for a pair of jeans. It's done professionally and looks a lot better than I can do on my sewing machine. I have done them on my machine and it looks alright but for a few dollars I can get it done a lot better.
I have a plastic chair mat under my computer desk that the edges are curled and won't lay flat. Have been unable to bend them back as the plastic is hard
