I cut them into equal size circles and paint them and decorate them. Contact paper or ribbon also works well.

Hello...I saw your question and automatically thought of Washi Tape. They have so many colors and patterns to choose from and to keep them stiff you could use regular Duct Tape first in your choice color, ( to compliment the outer one ) and then, because Washi Tape has soooo many designs and colors to choose from, you could just add stripes or strips of color to each one. you can usually find Washi Tape on sale at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Hardware Store, or even find some at your local Fabric store. I hope this helps.....so many different ideas and forms to choose from too!!......bend into a heart shape for Valentines day.....connect 3 different sizes for a Snowman.....wreath with ribbon or extra cloth for Christmas......use different colored twine in a simple loop fashion to make 4th of July ones......Gee! you have me thinking up a storm! Have a blast and please post what you make.....so many holidays and functions to choose from! Wow! Hope we can all see what you've made! Take care!

You can use a clear spray to protect fabric from soiling...I don't have a picture to show as these were a gift with place mats that I also made with the same fabric tracing the original place-mat to use as a pattern . Cut two fabric pieces out allowing enough for a sewing seam on the inside, and then turning it right side out ..you may want to use a fabric liner for stability in between the two pieces of fabric to make it...
