How do you clean a wood laminate floor that has cat litter dust?

We just got wood laminate floors about a year ago. We also have cats. The area around the litter box, has the litter dust embedded into the grain of the flooring. I have tried pads under the litter box, but those just trap any moisture under them. I already have a couple spots of warping from the wetness being trapped. I have tried rubber mats, same problem of trapping any moisture. I mop all the time, but it still dries the same. I even bought an expensive wet/dry vacuum that just seemed to spread the problem. I was told by the installers not to use Murphy's Oil Soap. Is there anyone out there with the same problem or someone who knows what to do? Thank you.

Go to a flooring store or Lowes, Home Depot, etc.. They will have products to clean your laminate. I spent 25 years in the floor covering business so I know things 😉. You can also use a mild solution of vinegar and water. You don't want to saturate the floor though.

    I hope this helps!

I have the same problem. Wish someone would share their solution

  • Bona products are what I used. Use a cotton throw rug under the litter box which can easily be washed when necessary. Must be cotton, not synthetic. Home Goods is a good place to start. Marshalls, Ross, etc., before going to big box stores and paying full retail.
