How can I get a large amount of wax out of a tablecloth?

  5 answers
  • Put it in the freezer for a while and then scrape off as much as you can. After that lay it between several layers of paper towels and go over it with a warm iron. The paper towels will soak up the melting wax. Change the paper towels as the get wax on them.

This response assume the table cloth is washable

1 - Apply ice and Scrape what you can

2 - Use a warm iron and paper towels to melt as much as you can out

3 - Use a degreaser (like an orange cleaner) to remove the residual wax (test on an inconspicuous place to make sure the table cloth is colorfast first)

4 - Wet the spot and rub it with a bit of Fels Naphtha soap (laundry aisle - is literally a bar of soap for laundry)

    5 - Launder as usual

If that 5 step process doesn't remove it, you probably need a new tablecloth.

  • Remove as much of the dried wax as possible, then iron the rest using an old towel or even paper bags. The wax will absorb into the towel or bag instead of the tablecloth. I've used this method on carpet before.
