Clean with TSP. Sand off sheen with 220 grit sand paper by hand in direction with grain. Of course remove hardware and take drawers out. Prime with oil based primer. Lightly sand again. Paint 2 coats of oil based pink paint in whatever sheen you like. No sealer needed. Very durable, will last many many years. Latex doest hold up as well.

PRIMER then PAINT. Scuff up the surface with sand paper so the primer will adhere to the surface. Prime the whole thing. Let it dry overnight. Paint the next day.

Clean it carefully, sand and/or strip the finish, seal the wood to prevent bleed through from the wood and then paint.
