Hi Denise, this one is done with a craft(faux) pumpkin, but you can decorate a real one the same way

We did several, stacked them over a pole with lights. They last for years when you use a glue gun!

These are all lovely! But I wanted to give you one more option. Use a real or faux pumpkin or a stack of them. Clean their surfaces with Wet Wipes for a fast job, to remove dust and dirt. Choose silk flowers of different sizes so that you have wide blooms like sunflowers, medium blooms like zinnias, and smaller blooms like asters. Leave the stem on the pumpkins or wrap them in twine, if you wish. Get your glue gun ready.

If you want a stack of pumpkins, real or faux, start with a piece of rebar or a broomstick the correct height. Drill or cut two holes in the pumpkins, across from each other. Thread the pumpkins on the car or stick, leaving at least eight inches to insert the bar or stick into the ground or a big pot filled with dirt and rocks.

Start attaching the blooms to the pumpkins, using a glue gun or bottled glue. If you use white glue, use cotton balls or sticks to hold the blooms in place while the glue dries. Using the rest of the flowers, create a cascade of blooms down the stack, or down individual pumpkins. Add any other embellishments you want, and spray everything with coats of polyurethane. If all the materials are fake, these could last for years, especially if they are used inside. But even a stack of real pumpkins used for outdoor decorating, they should last through the autumn season, especially if they don’t get rained on, (a possibility here in Texas). You can tweak the design each year with the faux designs, adding flowers or scarecrows or Halloween items. I’m glad you are interested in doing this. Please take photos of your process and design and post your project on Hometalk. Best wishes! Jewell
