How do I reinforce hardwood floors from buckling?

These floors are very old..I'd say at the least 60 years old.My home & property was originally part of a huge working farm. When they put in the central AC & heat my husband saw that there was no sub floor under them. We have been trying to get it dry enough to put down vapor barrier ect. I was just curious if we could put something under to reinforce the hardwood if we can even get acess to them all until we are ready to redo the flooring & foundation.

When do you plan on redoing the foundation and flooring? Chances are what you have is better than what they manufacture today unless you spend huge sums of money. In order to install a vapor barrier, all the floor boards need to come up. Honestly I wouldn't go through the trouble if you will be performing foundation work in the near future. I would, however, rent some high power industrial fans to speed up the drying process. You don't want them to possibly start molding, as that creates yet another expensive headache to remedy. Can you share a photo?

We were planning on redoing foundation this summer but I've had to have major surgery... so it's been put on hold until I'm fully recovered. It is just me and my husband. ..I'll ask if he can get under enough to takes pics.. thank you for your help! Naomie
