Moth balls
I put moth balls in my garden. The squirrels and chipmunks don't like the smell. I don't either, but they stay away. Maybe try putting some near the door. My friend sprays peppermint oil around her door. I would spray some on the screen. Look at a hardware store. She got it at Ace. In the mouse trap/repellent area.

I know what a pain they are. Don't laugh, but I had a kitchen window next to a bird feeder and the squirrels drove me crazy. I tried making noise, etc. What finally worked was a squirt gun. Nothing but water in it, but it made them move on to a dry location. It was fun and harmless. The birds were happy and so was I. I've read about sprinklers being used to discourage cats also.
