Can you help me troubleshoot my smoke alarm?

I awoke this morning to one of my smoke alarms (wired) beeping periodically. I had to get replacement batteries, but now the beeping has stopped. We usually change the batteries with the time change, but perhaps forgot. Even though it has stopped the delayed beeps, should I assume it is low battery and change it?

Thanks, Nan, for the response. I cannot see the brand with my 10 foot ceilings. They all came when the house was built 4 years ago. I am 74 and disabled. My husband is out of town and I will have to call a handyman to do the job, I am afraid. Since it stopped, I wondered if replacement was necessary at this time. I sure don't want to ignore it and have it start again tonight. Thanks you for your time though.
Batteries are cheap, replace them to be on the safe side. Even hard wired smoke detectors have a lifespan. If 10 years old or older, replace the entire unit.
Thanks, Naomi. Actually, I have a mystery - when I returned from buying batteries, it has gone silent. I am 74 and disabled, so I was trying to make sure replacement was necessary as I would have had to call a handy-man on a weekend. So, now I am waiting to see if anything further happens. I have all in my house replaced at he time change twice a year, so I was not understanding what it was. But, thank you so much for you time spent on the response.
