How do I clean my white (not shiny) acrylic sink?

The finish is matte, so it stains very easily. How do I clean it? Right now, what works best for me is to let it soak overnight full of a mixture of powdered dishwasher detergent and water. This clean doesn't last, though because it just stains with whatever else is dropped into the sink.

It sounds as if the finish/glazing originally on the sink when it was new, might be worn off, perhaps due to simply use over the years........
