Gosh it's cute....all I'd do (if you HAVE TO) is paint it and paint a face on it......make it look a little distressed since pigs are not the neatest animals.....but I love it the way it is.......Maybe do a little something bold like paint dots or paisley on it to match a room color...

Hi. You could get a piece of that āfakeā fur and put it around the center piece. I would attach it with Velcro so you could take it off and wash it when it gets dusty
I misread your request...to soften it you could glue strips of felt or felt dots on it....or strips of printed fleece fabric of her favorite character....I still love it the way it is š·š·š·š·
You could get a boa of feathers from the Dollar Store to make her beautiful! š
How about a ribbon around both ends. Looks like it had something there already once upon a time.
How is it attached to the bottom stand? Can it be removed?
Maybe you could get a soft pink stuffy, then open a body seam, take out some of the filling, and insert the wooden bank inside. When you sew the seam back up, leave a slit open for access to put the coins into the 'piggy bank slot'.
