Hi Hettie, here's how one blogger built her pantry! https://www.thecraftpatchblog.com/how-to-build-pantry-shelves/

  • Hi, Hettie!

Will the shelves be open and hang on a wall or will they be made to fit in a closet? If you would please elaborate, we'd be happy to help!

No matter what you end up doing, remember that particle board & MDF can only take about a 24” span if you’re going to stack three layers of canned food on them.

    They’ll bow/warp sooner or later.

Hi ! The home we moved into had very little cabinet space and being short I can only reach the bottom shelf and a few things on one cabinets second shelf . My solution was to make a wall pantry . On one wall I had a little less than a yard to

work with . I had some pallet wood , so I went to Lowe's and bought black metal pipe from the plumbing dept. For each shelf I used 2 flanges , 2 lengths of pipe ( just about the depth of the shelf ) and 2 end caps . Find your studs in the wall , you need to screw the flange into the stud for support !!! Then place the second flange over the other stud , lay the wood board and a level on top to make sure the shelf will be level , then Mark were you will screw in the flangle. Once the flanges are in place just screw in the pipe and end cap and lay the board on top. I have six shelves from floor to almost the ceiling . Now everything is in reach ( with the help of a step stool for the high shelves.

Note *** I did but pipe support brackets to put underneath the board for support and to keep the board from tipping....I never used them and haven't had any problems. Good luck !
