You can, but there’s a great deal of prep work and proper materials involved.
Curious, why did the sun darken your vinyl? I’m used to the sun bleaching flooring finishes.
After you strip any wax or other “mop n shine” products off the entire floor, you’ll need to Prime it with a binding primer for plastics/vinyl and then paint two full coats with a deck or porch paint.
I would go to a full line pro paint store & make sure you get the right products, so that this lasts.
I am not sure why the sun darkened my flooring. It is just a strip behind the blinds along the floor where it is darkened, almost black. Someone suggested that the glue used to put the flooring down is the cause. I am probably going to just live with it as I am 77 years old and cannot do much painting anymore. Thank you for your help.
Painting any flooring requires a certain amount of physical agility to bend, squat, and reach. The success of the outcome also depends, as Cheryl noted, on using quality materials and following all the requisite steps thoroughly with a great deal of patience.

I am 77 years old and not able to do much painting anymore, so I will probably just live with the darkened flooring as it is just the strip along the glass slidiing door and the blind is closed most of the time anyway. Someone suggested that the glue under the flooring is the cause. It gets full sun all day till around 3 pm. and gets very very hot. Thank you again.
Oh yes many projects and I still do them. I have a small back porch I painted and flower beds all around my house to tend too. I am never sitting still, I must always be doing something. Thank you and have a good day.
