Vanessa...My carpet shampooer recommends a certain shampoo so I would be afraid to use any other product but I would recommend a prespray that I use from Autozone called Blue Magic. I use it constantly for small areas and it eliminates the use of my shampooer so often.

Sometimes too much soap worsens the stain. I just touched up mine just last night with my shampooer and cool water. Actually got suds up and a very clean carpet. Remember hot water sets the stain. Always rinse after cleaning with cool water.

Hi Vanessa. What kind of stains are they? I have used WD40 on pen ink stains (it took a few goes), and peroxide on other stains.

I just use white vinegar and water and that gets most of the stains out. For the stubborn ones I pretreat with 409 and then of course go over it with the vinegar and water in my carpet cleaner.
