I always start by removing things from one part of the room, putting like things together in containers (bins or storage totes work well for this) as you move across the room from that starting point, you will probably begin to find the multiples you have of things. Once my containers start getting full, I go back to that container (s), and decide what I'm keeping and what I am getting rid of. Don't be surprised that when you are ready to put those things away, you may get rid of more. Once I have everything sorted, I decide how much space those things get and may keep only the number that fill in that space. Vertical space like storage pockets that hang on the back of a door, shelving and bins help contain things. If you have seasonal crafts, like I do, consider storing them, clearly labeled for when you need them, giving you the ability to put them in less accessible storage. Keep a notebook with where they are stored if you are like me and tend to forget where you have put them (or that you even have them). Then, the tough part is putting things back to their designated spot when not in use. Because, if you are like me you don't really need ten or more of the same kind of scissors, and having designated homes for things help. Only you actually know what you really need and use. Now that I'm downsizing , I struggle with this, too.

You can build a small unit similar to a bookshelf to hold your sewing machines. Make sure to anchor it to the wall to avoid it tipping over. Then get a 4-drawer filing cabinet to hold your supplies and fabric. You can also hang bins on the wall for additional storage. This should clean up your sewing room nicely.

How large is your space? Thread on the wall, material stacked and on shelves. Do you need 6 machines? If some are specialty and not needed regularly, consider storing so that you don't have to have them out. My daughter recently reorganized hers and purged down to 1 sewing machine 1 serger, the others in storage, 1 cutting table and one sewing desk.
