How do I get rid of roots in grass?

I had a Brazilian Pepper tree removed and the stump as well. However I am having small sprouts of tree roots pop up in my grass all over. Other than trying to dig up the roots which is nearly impossible is there anything I can spray that will kill the roots but not harm the grass.

Hi Jeff, I know roundup makes a whole line of sprays and also granulated formulas specific for weed and feed to basically eliminate everything but grass. Maybe they would work on the tree roots too?

Hi Jeff. I have the same issue. I just use a cutters and keep cutting them off. The tree is trying to sprout from the healthy roots. Give it a few years and it will stop.

Amanda, Thanks for your response. I'll keep using cutters for a while. I'm going to reseed my lawn in a couple of weeks so we'll see how that works.

Morgan, Thanks for the response. Currently I'm trying all sorts of experiments to get rid of the roots.
