How do I clean the stove plate?

Any suggestions on how to clean the silver plate under the electric coil on the stove top

  • Dish soap and water. I use Dawn. I feel for you, not a fan of electric stoves.

Never seen silver plate on any stove, its usually chrome. Use hot soap water to soak them, and then a round plastic scrubbie to get off the stuck on stuff. If there really burnt on food, you can use oven cleaner on them.

Hi Debra. I'm Cindy. Since it's summer time, I would bring this project outside. Sprinkle some baking soda on the silver plates. Then spritz them with vinegar. Wait and let it fizz for at least 15 mins. Then wipe it all up with a damp soft cloth. If they are in bad shape, you may have to repeat. Good luck Debra.

You can purchase new silver liners/drip pans at a store like Wal Mart or Menards. They are relatively inexpensive. The electric burners can usually be removed to replace the drip pans. They usually pull out like pulling a plug in cord from an electric socket and then you can plug them back in. I would try some spray on oven cleaner first once you remove them from your stove top.
