My husband & I have been contemplating this as well for a good while since we are in the process of refreshing our home! My husband said all he knew was scraping it off, BUT I don’t concur! There has to be a way better, faster, less messy way!!

Btw, I would ask my own question(s) w/ y’all but haven’t figured everything out yet!! I apologize 💛 xx

I have done this, however, like your husband said, it needs to be wet then scraped off. Messy job . . .

Mercedes: you should always have it asbestos-tested first! If it tests positive... then you'll need a professional hazardous material team.

Nan has good advice re: asbestos. If it is abestos free, then empty the room and drape walls & floors to protect them as well as lessen the clean up. Using a garden sprayer, soak with warm water and let penetrate. Then scrape with something like the Homax 6100 Ceiling Texture Scraper. If you have a shop vac, this will be a great time to use it. Use an old trash can to dump the removed material, make sure you don't fill it without checking how heavy it gets. I would also wear long sleeves and a shower cap. It's horrible to get it out of your hair.
