How do I remove the carpeting and glue from a cement porch and step?
Take carpet off of outside porch and step and get rid of that glue that held it?

I've heard staining is a good technique for updating floors. So how do I stain my wood floor?
Use a sharp utility knife to cut thru the carpet to form strips a couple feet wide. Then loosen each strip by whacking at the edges with a shovel. When you get enough carpet loose, to get a good grip on it, you can usually pull it off. To remove the glue, you will need to heat it with a heat gun, until it is soft and pliable. Then scrape it with a scraper. This job will require A LOT of elbow grease. A LOT.
Scrape it off with a ice chisel
Mineral spirits and a metal scraper with a long wooden handle from the hardware store.
Agreed you will need something strong like mineral spirits or acetone for the remaining glue. Good luck!
