I know this is a dumb question, but we're moving into a new home and I just don't know what color(s) to paint the walls inside. It's overwhelming. In our current home, flats in mulund I chose one neutral color (a creamy white) and my husband thought it was odd to use one color for everything, and to use something so neutral. I've looked at paint colors and there are so, so many. new project in mumbai Is it weird to just use one color or should I use more than one? Most of my decor is blue, green, or cool yellow. Any advice? 2 bhk flats in dadar

I like to use neutral colors so that I can be sure my decor and furniture won’t clash. It’s easier to change decor than to repaint a room. You could do a variety of shades of 1 neutral color: all different tones of gray or white or beige

Personally, I like a white ceiling and light gray shades, it is calming and these slight variations are just enough to work well together. The baseboards are also white.

If you choose different shades or a variety of colors, be sure to label the paint cans on which room has what color so if you go to touch up later, you'll have a reminder.

Hello in my opinion it’s a pretty great idea!

When we did our 2015 remodel we chose 4 or 5 different off white-white colors for the different rooms looking back we wish we just chose one for the ease of managing paint cans and touch up. I don't think we were thinking clearly! Panda white - divine white- marshmallow- china white..... it was clearly a mistake!

I confess too—-sometimes paint can look different in the room than on the paint chip -we also have the experience of a two-story foyer looking at a beige color and it turned out to be a peach tone in the room lighting. It may be best to wait to choose the colors until you’re in the house aware of the lighting and your actual furnishings.

Take a trip into the local Sherwin William store, Home Depot, Benjamin Moore, etc and pick up a few pamphlets they have available for coordinating different paint colors in an entire home. Most paint companies have lots of information on how you can coordinate paint colors and the work is already done for you! The paint samples are coordinated in the pamphlets so you can easily choose a variety of colors that go with each other! You can also use the colors to help you pick out accessories for your rooms! The colors are usually compiled into themes like soft seashore colors, neutrals, traditional, bold, etc. You can also go online and find coordinating colors on each specific brand paint company.

  • Or hire an interior decorator to help you decide. I have no problem choosing colors, but I have been at it for decades. Bring home paint swatches and tape to walls. Eliminate the ones that don't thrill you. Once you are down to 3 or 4, buy sample size pots. Paint on walls and live with them a few days. They see which you like best. That's the one to purchase.

I LOVE creamy barely off white (not beige) for the walls with bright white trim and bright white ceilings. You can use any colors for furnishings, art, floors, cabinets etc. and the house always looks light filled. But you already know that, you just need to convince your husband.
