To make a kitchen curtain, you’ll need to sew a rod pocket and a hem, after you sew the seams or work with the selvedge.

Typical 200% fullness may not be applicable, if it’s going to make the curtain too full and it will protrude out into the sink area and get too many splashes.

I would use a tension rod, but other small scale rods are affordable.

If you do not sew, Tasmin, you can use double sided ironing tape to make a rod pocket and even the hem. Sometimes I have used pretty pillow cases with embroidery or even lace on them, but it depends on the size of your window to cover and if you want half the window or all of it. I just covered the bottom half.

I used a roller shade...purchased at Menards or Lowes. For the curtain, I used a short sheer on a regular round rod or you could use a tension rod. Then I tied the curtains back so that they are clear of the faucet. At Christmas I use poinsettias for tie backs. In the spring I use faux greenery and in summer I use a metalic chain or cord/rope. Gives my kitchen a festive look. Might add, this window is over the sink. Tied back it does not get splashed.
