Can you recommend a firm mattress that will be good for my sciatica?
A few years after I purchased an expensive king-size mattress, I developed "sciatica" which is a sharp pain on my left lower side. My great and expensive memory form mattress was no longer comfortable; instead, I wake up unrested and feeling achy. I've found that a harder/firm mattress (maybe a mattress with springs) is the best for my condition.* Can anyone recommend a mattress brand? Robbie

Robert...this is an expensive investment and you need to physically try mattresses out...especially with your physical condition.
We have a Sleep Number bed that we like but I agree with Fiddledd224. Try some out and see what works best for you!
I would try out various mattresses. We have back problems at our house. My hubby prefers a firmer mattress but I like a softer mattress that conforms to my body. We have a mattresses with coil springs. In my dreams I would love to buy a Sleep Number system but it's a little pricey!
Visit a proper mattress store and try them out. Really take your time. After my first back surgery in 2008, I had to buy a new mattress it it was a bit of trial and error. I opted for an extra firm model and if I wanted it softer, there is a multitude of mattress toppers to fit any need available.
Tuff & Needle. It is foam but not memory foam. Wonderful support, almost zero motion transfer and you don't need box springs. We've had ours for a year and a half and no more back ache. I hope they haven't made changes to the product in that time because I think they were bought out by another company, maybe Sealy.
