You could stain or paint the wood trim. Sometimes the wood bases come off, and you can fill the inside of the glass base with things like shells, stones, dried flowers, sea glass beads, etc..... turn the lamp over and remove the felt and nut on the metal rod to remove the base using kneedle nose pliers.

You can paint the glass if you want to. DecoArt has some glass paints and spray paint works too. There are also paints that will frost the glass. Be sure to mask off the wood part when you spray.
Thanks Michelle. I was wanting an off white that would make them look more modern. They are from the 90"s & the gold glass that was popular.
