I know you aren't making over boots..(lol) but I just wanted to show you the post where I painted the faux leather with fabric paint and it turned out great!
You can get fabric paint at Micheals. They have spray fabric paint which is what I used for that project. But another idea for a couch is buy ANY COLOR latex paint and add a fabric medium into it. Try liquitex fabric medium or ceramcoat textile medium. Just google these 2 products and follow the directions on the bottle to mix with paint. I have thought about doing it myself to get an exact color and I would use these products. I love being able to use my own color especially when it comes to home decor. good luck!
