How can I make a pedestal base for my 46 inch square table?

My only problem with the table it has a wine rack base and its too big to push my chairs close to the table. Right now they stick out away from the table about 6" on all sides adding another 12" or more to the space it's taking up. My table top is really heavy about 2" thick solid wood as well as the wine rack base it has now. The supports from the base are 4"x4" each I enclosed a couple pics to maybe understand what I'm saying
The easier thing would be to do to a thrift, consignment, flea market, habitat store and buy a pedestal table for a pedestal and switch tops. Already made. You can paint or refinish. I do that all the time. Can get them for about $35. If really want to make something, you'll find lots or tutorials on you tube or Pintress on that.
I'd shop at thrift stores until you find a cheap table that has a base you like. You won't have to worry about the height, etc. My local second hand stores very frequently have bases that are serviceable and the hunt is always fun.

And another option, if you like the base you have, you could always build a larger top for it! A circle jig and a router, and you can have a larger top in no time! Hope this helps!
