Before you shut it off, feel the lamp shade. If normal temp, cover, but do not let it touch bulb.

  • Can you post a photo? Most of my lampshades are fabric and have never been a problem. Pay attention to the maximum wattage recommended by the manufacturer on the lamp. Or, change the bulb to an LED which do not get hot at all. Does that help any?

Use LED bulbs. They don't get hot.

Yes, LED lights are the key. They come in every color range you could want including daylight. The Color range they emit, has nothing to do with the physical temperature of the lightbulb surface itself.

I know a lot about lighting technology:

if you want it to look like an incandescent lightbulb but be an LED, you need what is called 2700° through 3000° kelvin.

If you want it to look like with a cold daylight, then you will need something in the 4000 to 5000° Kelvin range.

Most people do not like daylight color range.
