Easy Layered Succulent Containers
Do you guys remember making colorful sand art as a child? They always had a stand at the amusement park near my home and it was one of my favorite things to do. Mine never turned out as good as the examples, but I still loved filling those glass bottles. I had some colored rice from a different project and it somehow reminded me of my favorite childhood craft, which inspired me to make these easy layered succulent containers.
I started by gathering different items I had around the house. I used colored rice, sand, little gemstones, confetti and tiny glass pebbles. To color the rice, I just added some rice to a bowl with a small amount of paint and a drop of water and mixed well. I poured the rice onto a paper plate until it was dry and placed into containers.
Choose your glass containers. I used a small drinking glass and an Oikos Yogurt glass, but you can use vases, mason jars, light bulb, etc.
Hold your faux succulent in place and start pouring items, one at a time into the container.
I love the way all these items look together... especially the confetti. This little succulent planter is colorful and so cool to look at.
I may have to buy some more succulents, because I want to make more and more of these. The colors make me so happy and they just add a little burst of color to whatever room they are placed in.
I had everything I needed at home to make these, but you can buy any/all items at the dollar store. This project is not expensive at all, but seriously looks amazing! You could also use beans, beads, sequins, glitter or anything else you can layer in a cup.
