Repurposed Vintage Cookie Sheet Chalkboard

I've always wanted a chalkboard in the kitchen so I can make note of things that I need as soon as I think of them sothey don't get forgotten.

Everything I'm using was found at thrift stores, so this was a very inexpensive project.

For my cookie sheet chalkboard I'm using a 12" x 18" vintage aluminum cookie sheet pan from my vintage thrifted bake ware stash.

The reason I'm choosing to use aluminum is because it's very light, which makes it easy to hang.

The cookie sheet is quite used and scratched up so rather than using chalkboard paint I decided to give the chalkboard vinyl a try.

I measured the inside of my cookie sheet, marked the backing of the vinyl with pencil, and cut out my piece.

I did a dry fit and cut the corners a bit so they're rounded.

I cut just a bit of the plastic backing off so I could get the top area set in place before removing the rest of the backing.

Thank goodness the vinyl is repositionable because it took me a three tries to get the top area just right.

Then I just flipped the vinyl over so I could easily pull down the rest of the backing.

I rolled up the backing as I moved along, removing any air lumps and bumps with my fingers.

Then I pushed the vinyl down the entire length of the cookie sheet.

With my glue gun a added some faux pearl beading and a cream horn baking cone to hold a piece of chalk.

I used velcro strips on the back of the cookie sheet to hang the chalkboard on my door. This door is our main entrance into the house so it has to be solidly on the door or it would probably fall off.

I added a simple red bow to the nail that was already on the door. This makes it look like the chalkboard is hanging, but it's really not.

Here it is in my aqua and red kitchen. It's such an easy way to add a place to make a list, or leave notes, or just draw something pretty.
