Turn Your Plain Cushion Covers Into Crazy Colourful Puffs of Delight
I wanted to try my new found obsession with unicorn spit gel stain on anything to be honest that I can get my hands on! so when I saw on an auction site these two plain cotton cushion covers for £2 I decided to start a journey of colourful experiments.
First I got the plastic bag that the cushion cover came in and taped it flat on landscape position on to the table with masking tape.
The decision of which beautiful colours to use in which combination is the enjoyable bit! I start. With yellow in centre and work out.
I begin to work from centre outwards in various patterns and colours just squeezing even amounts of the lovely gloopy colour.
Is best to pause and take a look to decide next steps and see how the design begins to grow and develop.
And I wasn’t sure how close to the edges to go with colour but I stop at what feels the design finish.
I then spray generously with water all over the paint and design.
Then it’s time to place the cotton cushion cover over the top of the unicorn spit design.
Press gently in position careful not to move it once is positioned and then squirt again over the top of the cushion cover to allow the design paint to soak in to both sides through the cotton.
And then gently with your fingers or cloth is better to splay the paint gently from the middle outwards to further create an effect of pattern you feel looks good.
Making sure all cotton is covered with some colour.
Then gently peel away the cover from the unicorn spit gel stain design in one smooth slow movement
Hang out to dry and when ready spray gently with protective clear lacquer to help keep design fresh and secure.
I’m thrilled with the result!
looks so vibrant and really zings 😁

That looks really pretty, but wouldn't the spray lacquer make it hard instead of pillowy?
