How can I peel stickers off the wall so I can paint it?

My living room is full of stickers that somehow over the past year has turned into a sticker wall. I try to peel off as many as I can. But it’s not easy. I want to paint the walls. But I don’t want to paint over the stickers. What is the best way to get the stickers off and the cheapest way to paint my living room? I also would love suggestions instead of white what other colors are nice?

Try using a hair dryer to remove the stickers, Sara. If there is still sticky residue, vinegar should get it off. As far as color is concerned, that is up to you. If your looking for something neutral, a soft gray is always nice. For color, pale yellow, green or blue, depending on your decor.
I agree with Ann. A blow dryer to soften the adhesive on the stickers.
Spritz with rubbing alcohol to remove the stickers. And do not allow again. Then wash walls with TSP. Then prime, let dry and finally paint. Here is ho to choose colors.

No one can give you your color choices as it's YOUR home! You've gotten good suggestions but take time to look inside yourself. What room environments do you like & why? What colors are you drawn to for clothes near your face?
What is the function of each room? Bedroom & bath - "spa-like", calming. Kitchen - what do you want to feel? Clean? Bright? Not bright?
