Be sure to only hire licensed professionals that follow local building code, otherwise you have no recourse, (or the alternatives are costly, time consuming and require legal counsel, no one needs that.)
Hi Greg, you are going to need to call someone in your area to get an estimate. I would ask family and friends for recommendations.
Ask around. Trust but verify license. Make sure they carry insurance.
I asked people I knew who owned homes and also checked with Home Advisor. I received several recommendations and was able to verify contractors information before proceeding.
It all depends what you want done. Gut job or remodel. Look for someone local. Get at least three estimates. Check references. Ask for previous jobs done and talk to former customers. Make sure they are licensed, bonded, and insured.
Go to Handyman connection in your area. Check Better Business Bureau bath room renovators or contractors in your area.
I've seen bathroom tile in homes from the 1950's and 1940's that used completely different construction methods then today. Back then, they often used concrete and rebar to reinforce the wall. You can't see it until you break the wall. In modern construction, the tiles are stuck to a wall panel and getting it out is no biggie. Those old bathrooms could have 4 inches of concrete that you are going to have to get out .... with out damaging pipes.
Call around for someone that refinishes bathtubs or tile. You could change all the tile to white. ( i like it how it is ... )
Hi Greg. Ah, the '50's peach and black bath.
If you do the tear out yourself you can save a lot of money. If you decide to go this route, take care in doing the tear out. the sledge hammer method only works on TV. There's all sorts of hidden pipe and wires in them-there walls. Good luck!
it all depends where do you live .. prices vary by states
