Measure and cover with a piece of plywood. Secure with hinge brackets on one side and a locking hinge on the other. Maybe two of each lol
Don’t forget that the boxes need to hold the weight of two people, and the wood itself. Please consider that the weight of the two people is considered kinetic weight, not static weight.
As in, over-engineer the framing.
