How can I arrange a sectional sofa in a room without it taking over?

How do I arrange a sectional sofa in a room? The sectional has a sofa, wedge and loveseat. The way I have it now, it is taking up all the space in the living area. I would like to keep the sectional but I believe it is taking up too much space in the room.

  • Hi, Do you have a picture of your room and the sectional? What else is in the room? Can you give a description of the room so we can help you better.

I have a dinning room table with 6 chairs, the sectional and coffee table in this room. I do not know the room dimension.

You could separate it or put it up against a wall

I like your living room and the sectional. I think you will find that the coffee table has to be too far away from the reclining sectional (speaking from experience) to be useful. Otherwise, looks good and comfy. The dining room seems crowded to me....the pretty china closet is just too big...will the top come off and you could use it as a buffet? Also does your table have a leaf that can be taken out? Or is it in your budget to get a smaller table? i know you asked about your sectional and I think it works the way you have it and I think your room seems crowded because of the dining room furniture. By the way, can your lower your chandelier over the table and maybe put a floor lamp behind the sectional in the corner? I like your room very much.

Thank you! I love my china hutch. but will consider removing a leaf from the dining room table. I placed the lamp as you suggested.

Hello, what if you fit it into a corner? They are designed for corners so that should free up some space for you
