What can I use to extend my patio umbrella poles?

Since I don't know much about this sort of thing, I would take the lower part of the umbrella pole to a good hardware or plumbing supply store, and check to see what pipes would suit this purpose best, whether metal or plastic. Then have them cut you the lengths you need, or get a hacksaw that will cut the kind of pipe you buy. If the color is wrong, you could spray paint the pipe.

I'm having a problem finding a pipe with the OD to fit the ID of the concrete opening (which is made to insert the umbrella pipe) and flared to fit the OD of the Umbrella pipe. Need to somehow join a 1.5 inch OD stainless pipe to a 1.5 ID stainless pipe without welding them.

We deal with very hot temps in southern AZ. so plastic wouldn't be an option. Not sure about fiberglass strength withstanding the wind gusts that pop up... The guys at our local hardware & lumber stores haven't been able to solve so I thought maybe someone at home talk might have already solved such a problem

I would splint it. Take your additional length that has the same diameter as the existing pole. Use a metal sleeve to splice them together. Thumb screws should hold them tight.

You could also use five gallon plastic pails, cut the bottom off, oil the inside and then pour in Quikcrete and just before it sets fully insert a plastic pipe the diameter of the base of your poles.

Sticking the pole end into a pail of concrete is not going to solve the dilemma that the height of the pole is not high enough.

The poles are anchored already in recessed receivers which are very sturdy.

The problem here is that the poles are not tall enough to allow clearance in walking under the umbrella.

Purchase an aluminium pole sufficient length to accommodate the needed 16" added height plus supportive inches on each end. Cut to size if necessary.

Purchase a D size large enough to go over the umbrella pole.

Cut your present umbrella pole, keeping a section firmly installed in the concrete holder. The new extension piece will be added in between this bottom anchor section, and the higher section, of the original umbrella pole.

The key to getting the extension to stay attached securely to the umbrella pole is to drill holes through both the umbrella pole and the extension pole at the same spots. To allow one pin, 4 holes need to be drilled (2 in the umbrella pole, and 2 in the extension pole.)

After drilling the holes, insert the umbrella pole into the extension, line up the holes, then slide in the locking pins to hold both poles in place. To have added strength for windy days, you may want to have two pins X cross each other. This would require 8 holes being drilled at each of the junction points.

Place Concrete Slabs under receivers and then Put a low fence around them to make them look better.

We measured the diameter of the umbrella pole and got a pipe slightly larger at Lowes. Works great. Just installed a pin and drilled a small hole to hold everything in place in the wind.

Put slabs under the Pole receiver to lift to required height or buy a new pole that will fit into conector.

Get another pipe that your umbrella will fit in and then drill a hole to pin it at the height you want.

Either way would work, get a pole slightly larger, drill and pin it or raise the base with concrete blocks, you could paint them a color to match with masonry paint.
