The surround shouldn’t come down to where the overflow and drain are, so I’m a little confused about the title of your question and then the actual question, sorry.
If you need to install the drain for the bathtub itself, and its corresponding overflow, I suggest you hire a plumber. Potential Water leaks are nothing to mess around with.
