EZ Thanksgiving-Fall Decor
For the fall decor on my built in hutch I decided to make cloth pumpkins with scraps of material, toilet paper, and a few tree branches. I also borrowed some leaves off a few old flower arrangements I had on hand. This was easy and inexpensive but I love the look in my kitchen when you walk in the front door.
Partially unroll toilet paper and fluff it up to make the pumpkin appear more round. This will be the main bulk of the pumpkin.
Using cloth remnants of your choice, some small branches cut in 3 inch lengths and paper or silk leaves, form the pumpkins. Place the fluffed toilet paper on a remnant and stuff the corners in the hole of the center of the roll. I had to cut some material off to leave room for the "stem" made from a section of the branch.
I bought one plaid remnant for $2 and one for less than $1.
You can see the first roll covered with cloth behind the remnants. I used 4 rolls of toilet paper to make 4 pumpkin shapes. Then I added the stems by inserting them in the hole and placed an imitation leaf next to the stem.
Here they are finished but not set up for display. I decided to use the rest of the birch branches for part of the display. For smaller or variety sizes of pumpkins, you can use smaller rolls of toilet paper. Here you can tell I needed to shape them just a bit to look more like pumpkins.

Then I added them to the wax leaves and ceramic dollar store pumpkins I had on hand. I love the "fall harvest" season and this makes a divine display of my favorite time of the year. For Thanksgiving I will add Terra cotta pots, dressed as pilgrims, to the display. They are cloth too and will blend in nicely. I love my hutch decor!
