Using a basic clock as your starting point, you can decorate around it to increase its size. eg: Make a sunburst using straws or sticks or bamboo. Nautical theme by adding a dry foam ring and decorating it to look like a Lifebelt. Add a Picture frame around it and decorate within it. Lots of things you could do, depends on style........

My favorite that I've seen used one end of a cable reel. Clock kits are widely available.

I hang a large clock over my mantel. It's up all year long and I decorate for the seasons around the clock.
