How can I make an ugly acoustic ceiling slightly more attractive?

    I added wall paper. Take down and apply pre-pasted wall paper to each section. I loved the new look in my kitchen.

    Buy different panels. There’s all kinds out there. Faux tin ceiling, 100% smooth, “mod” retro panels.

    if you paint them, they will sag if over-saturated. So be careful.

    If you paint the grid, use enamel paint, as latex will peel off eventually

    We recently updated our drop ceiling acoustic tiles, by changing from the large rectangular ones to square ones. We also bought the non-perforated type —it was a nice update-much cleaner look with a more pleasing tile style choice.

    Changing out the panels can be pricey. I did a small kitchen and it was a few hundred dollars so the wall paper worked well for under $30 and was beautiful. I have also painted the ones in the spare bedroom. They looked so clean that I had to paint the metal supports as well.
