Block all areas of entry with steel wool and use cotton balls scented with oil of peppermint or cedar to repel them. Fix any holes, clear trash and piles of rubbish away from your home’s foundation. Make sure your food is sealed in containers mice cannot chew through easily to deter them from having a banquet in your cabinets. If you have no pets or small children who could come into contact with mouse/rat bait, you can set that out in the back of cabinets, closets and all dark, close places where they can hide. Mice do not like the smell of peppermint or cedar, and closing off their entry to your house and minimizing the amount of hiding places will cut down on the number you have now and eventually end to you being mouse free.

Use Gain dryer sheets. They can't stand the smell!

You can have an exterminator place food that makes them seek a water source and when they drink they pass away.
