How can I repair AWFUL scratches on my engineered hardwood floors?

My son (I love him still!) kept taking the rug out from under his chair when he was playing games. He would replace the rug after the game and the damage went unnoticed! I cannot replace this floor currently. Help! Is there any way to fix the scratches in the wood floors?

You would need to sand them out and re poly those spots

I've had great success with these wood markers to cover all kinds of scratches. Start with the lightest color first and wipe away excess quickly. Move up to the next shade if needed.

That's deep enough, I don't think you can sand it out of engineered wood thats not that thick. I would get a couple colors of tinted wood fillers, and fill them in. Then add a few coats of water-based poly on top, looks like satin finish.

    Hello there,

You could try filling the deep scratches with Wax Crayon the colour of the floor, rubbing across the grain so it is gradually filled. rub over in line of grain with clean cloth. Leave it to dry out and solidify.remove excess wax by simply scraping it away. Light scratches could be covered using Scratch cover (comes in light medium and dark wood). Good luck!

Thanks, yes it wouldn’t blend in to do a couple spots. It is also ‘handscraped’ . Can it still be sanded?
