What type of paint is best to use on peg board material cabinets?

In house we recently purchased, I was sad to learn the kitchen that is so bright and welcome ( you see I’m one sighted and almost totally blind), has cabinets that are not even wood they’re more like a peg board material. Anyway, I have to repaint them they look like they were sprayed at factory but the edges weren’t covered. When cabinets were assembled that wasn’t corrected. My daughter n grand daughter told me they were very dirty but no, it’s just where they weren’t painted good. Question, I’ve cleaned very good now what type of paint should I use? Don’t want gloss. I do like where you use a glaze to highlight the panel etc.

Thanks everyone for your help. I told my husband buying this house will probably kill us getting it in shape to move into. It isn’t that old just neglected and absolutely no storage space in either bath room. That brings me back to my next problem, in building a between studs storage in master bath we’re needing to cut out a section of one stud. From reading all of the posts on doing this I know what to do I DO NOT KNOW what kind of saw do I use to cut that middle stud and not damage drywall on other side?? Help!!!

Both Benjamin Moore and Sherwin williams make a great paint for cabinets. Use a mohair roller, not to leave brush marks. If you can afford a paint sprayer take all the doors off and spray them. What ever you do DO NOT use chalk paint it will NOT hold up

I'd visit a local paint store like Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams and explain the situation to them. They can recommend the best primer/paint that will be durable for the material and stand up to wear and tear. I'd use at least a semi gloss as they'll be easier to keep clean and resist stain.

Wash down with TSP. Remove all hardware, doors and drawers, Mark on back where they go. Sand off any sheen. Prime, lightly sand with 220 grit sand paper. Paint 2 coats of satin or eggshell finish paint. Add the glaze . remember for cabinets to be washable , you need some sheen.
