Hello Joan,
Colour the floor with a wood stain you are happy with, PROBABLY SLIGHTLY DARKER THAN THE ONE YOU HAVE A THE MOMENT. Then finish it with a Polyurethane Non Slip sealant /varnish.
Don't paint it white or too dark. A medium tone will disguise the dirt better. Prime the floor and use a porch and floor paint for best results.
