How can I make DIY flea spray?

We have 5 cats and 2 dogs and summer is flea time. We use Seresto collars but still get them, especially in carpeted rooms which we don't have a lot of. They seem to bite me so I have taken garlic which helps me but we still have them. Thanks for your help in advance.

The vet told me to use borax on the carpets, so I put 20 Mule Team Laundry Borax in a glass jar with lots of holes poked in the lid. Sprinkle rugs down throughly, and even do the sofas if needed. Let sit for 3 hours and then vacuum up. This is not harmful to you, animals or kids.

I am highly allergic to flea bites, so when its flea season, I use Greenerways Bug Repellent which is a non-toxic one... it has lemongrass oil, citronella oil and cedar oil. in it. I get it on Amazon. I will spray myself and my bed with this super fine mist.

If you have Eucalyptus trees in your area, gather some leaves and put under the edges of the carpets if they are area rugs or under chairs and sofa.

And there is nothing like a good pet bath, yes even the cats can feel the relief of a flea bath. To get my cats to bathe, I put them in a small fiberglass carrier and put it in warm water until they relax. The will begin to enjoy it. Then I let them out and put them on top of the carrier to give them the flea bath, and then a real good rinse.

Daily vacuuming during flea season helps, empty the canister outside.

I put down old towels where the cats lay, and shake them out daily and wash weekly.

Dogs, get the cedar chip lined beds.

I don't think ANYTHING you make is really effective. I have tried everything for well over 50 years and have found nothing that works as a DIY. I hate giving my pets chemicals but I hate flea bites worse.

I have Sentinel and Bravecto on my dogs this year. REALLY expensive but I occasionally do get bitten in a bad year. Sentinel keeps eggs from hatching and Bravecto kills adult fleas. thus both) If you want a holistic method, comb pets with a flea comb over a blanket you can shake into the tub and flush down any loose eggs. I don't know if you have ever seen them but they look like tiny grain of salt sized chicken eggs. They roll so they get into the cracks of your floors etc. Thus you want to remove them to where you can get rid of them. The comb removes fleas on the pet but you have to be quick enough to pick them off of the comb and immediately drop into something that will kill them like a container of soapy water. The soap doesn't kill them but breaks the surface tension of the water so they drown. If you throw them in the toilet for example, they just kick to the sides and crawl back out.

you will know if they have active fleas on them with the black specks that come off with the flea comb. In doubt if it is flea poop or dirt. Place on a wet paper towel. If it is flea poop the wet paper towel will dissolve it and turn it back into blood, thus you will see the towel turning red around the specks. Good Luck.

The only way I found to get rid of fleas when we had them was this spray. It kills all stages of fleas https://amzn.to/2N6lGM2
