Oh my gosh! I had this problem for 3 months last year! Treat your animals first, I had my house professionally sprayed then I used light traps in the rooms that had the biggest problem. The sticky light traps help you know when the problem was going away.

I agree with Homeroad. We are a no pesticide/natural house, HOWEVER, all the natural methods failed...we did what Homeroad. 🌷

When I had kids and dogs this is what I did. Remember getting RID of something is much harder than PREVENTING infestation. So, you'll probably have to do this non-toxic treatment several times because fleas are always in production and the eggs are not effected. Baking soda. Buy a LOT of it. Pick an afternoon and coat your carpet and floors with it. Shake it on furniture that the pets get on. And, yes, give the dogs a bath with Blue Dawn and make sure you rinse well. Then give them a light dusting with Baking soda, too. Let all of this sit at least 8 hours. Overnight is better. Then vacuum everything and brush the dogs. If you have a flea comb (about $1), use that on them, too and pull off any dead fleas. You will have to treat outside areas with a product that works outdoors. Diatomaceous earth works better than baking soda outside but it's more expensive and will wash away in rain. Use it around the doors. If you see live fleas in the house after 4 or 5 days - repeat the baking soda treatment. The new adults will probably not have had time to reproduce if you treat immediately. This has worked for me. Now, I recommend Seresto collars for your furry kids. They're expensive but they work FOR 10 MONTHS! That's pretty cheap in the long run and keeps them safe without using nasty systemic chemicals.
